Login PiAutoSim™ - What is it?

PiAutoSim™ is a powerful bench-top simulator that enables the testing of automotive electronic control units (ECUs) in a true hardware-in-the-loop environment, minimising ECU validation and verification time and thereby reducing product time to market.

With the software in automotive ECUs continuing to grow in complexity and authority, there is an increasing need for reliable tools to aid ECU development and reduce time to market, whilst still delivering high quality products.PiAutoSim™ addresses this need, reducing ECU verification and validation time by a factor of up to ten.

PiAutoSim™ is designed for the automotive market - its I/O capability has been targeted to suit the needs of typical automotive applications.

A typical application for the product is simulation of a powertrain environment, such as an engine, gearbox, chassis or even a complete vehicle. A model defines the characteristics of the simulated components and is executed in real-time, taking input from and providing output to the ECU under test.

HIL chassis systems
Our PiAutoSim™ products include a range of three chassis, offering 200 to 600 I/O, allowing customers to choose a size that matches their application

Development tools - PiAutoSim software options
PiAutoSim™ can be programmed in C or with a MATLAB/Simulink blockset.

I/O boards and hardware options
A flexible set of signal conditioning interfaces is used to connect between the I/O chassis and the ECU under test. The standard set of signal conditioning cards supported by PiAutoSim™ can produce most automotive signals, such as crank timing, camshaft timing and throttle setting, and can accept signals such as injection timing, injection delivery and spark angle.

PiAutoSim™ also supports CAN and RS232 to communicate with the ECU under test.
